Free Topic: The Best Bassist to Ever Walk on the Earth

Imagen
John Francis Anthony Pastorius III was born in Pennsylvania on December 1, 1951 and died in Fort Lauderdale on September 11, 1987 (age 35) as a result of brain death. Considered by his peers as the Jimi Hendrix of the electric bass for the way he revolutionized the way of playing bass. Characterized by his incredible speed, his unique sound (fretless) and his compositions taken from another planet, without a doubt, one of the most influential bassists in all of history. Personally, it is my greatest influence as a bassist, a product of the virtuosity he had, his great handling of the electric bass and the large amount of music he left in his short life. Solo compositions, musical creations within the Weather Report Group, musical arrangements, etc. All this positions him as my reference in the electric bass. "I am John Francis Anthony Pastorius III and I am the best bassist in the world" (words with which he presented himself from a very young age)

My Favourite Piece of Technology

Thanks technology! My favorite piece of technology, definitely, is my electric bass (I am in love with it and the picture shows my love for it). I bought it in August from a Concepción seller. I play many songs with him and especially songs by my favorite bassist Jaco Pastorius and songs by my favorite musician Luis Alberto Spinetta. Normally, I play my electric bass every day for at least an hour and I love playing bass because I can connect with the musical notes and enter a pure state of satisfaction and harmony, transporting me on a roller coaster of exciting sensations. My life without my electric bass would not be the same, since I enjoy his company, I love to deliver music through him and above all I love to play music with my favorite instrument.

Why did you choose this career/study programme?

When I was a child, I dreamed of being a footballer (mistake!), But the conditions for that were never met and my interest in football was fading (although I still like it). When I grew up, I became interested in architecture, but realized that I didn't like it because it had a lot of math (yuck!). So, I began to be interested in the humanities and in the second year of my secondary education I decided to study anthropology, the university did not matter, but preferably the Austral University or the University of Chile were my goals. When I got into the race, even online, I loved the discipline again, which showed me that I really like it and would like to work as a good social anthropologist and archaeologist.
