Blog 5 - Free Topic: My inspirations and my Mentors in the Music

Hi dear reader, today I will talk you about my two pillars of my favourite music (my "heroes", my inspirations and my role models).

For as long as I can remember, I remind them to pierce my ears with iconic, magnificent and pleasant melodies. The first one I remember is Luis Alberto Spinetta (1950-2012) since he has been heard for a long time in my family. First my dad, then my older brother, me, my mom and my sisters. Apart from the fact that I love his music, I admire him as the person he was, the good person he was always considered, the genius he was considered for music, art and writing.

His way of loving music flooded me and led me to consider it as I do now, on the other hand, it led me to develop musical skills, I thought when I listened to it: "oh what a great song I want to practice on drums (at first), then on the electric bass (Present). Spinetta is my total idol, always i will always have him inside my musical heart.

My other idol, who inspired me to dedicate myself to the electric bass is Jaco Pastorius (1951-1987). Considered by himself and by others the best electric bass player of the world in his time. Inspiring millions and great bassists like: Marcus Miller, Richard Bona, Jeff Berlin, Ernesto Holman, Pedro Aznar, Cesar Franov, etc. It came into my life prematurely but without realizing it until I was 16 years old, when my interest for the electric bass grew up.

Jaco drove me completely crazy when I listened to Portrait of Tracy again that time (it was actually one of the first songs I tried to get on bass [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nsZ_1mPOuyk in case you want to hear it]), quoting a great bass player: I want to play like this guy.

Jaco transformed the way I set out in the face of electric bass and since that time I heard him, I consider him my role model.

I hope you liked my post, Greetings dear reader :D

  1. Awww I love your post!
Spinetta is everything. His songs are really beautiful...what I love the most is how versatile his lyrics are. Many times it has happened to me that I go back to listen to a song that I didn't listen to a while ago, and the meaning for me is completely different. I love that and it makes me very emotional.... Spinetta is really unique and transcendental, a being from another world!
